About us
Our story
Raavanaa Bowling Club began as friends meeting at the lanes on weekends. More than ten years later, those get-togethers have grown into a close community.
Now we are forming an official league, and new members are welcome, whether you have bowled for years or are picking up a ball for the first time.

Two legendary kingdoms, where the law was honoured with heart, soul and life. Every league night they meet again on the lanes: six games, team pins against team pins, and the kingdom that wins more games takes the night.

Season 1
Kingpin race
The kingdom with the most points is the Champion. For bowlers, after 16 weeks the one with the most pins is crowned Kingpin.
How it works
Rules of the clash
- Each game: the team with more pins wins the game. A tie counts as half a game each.
- Each night: six games. The team that wins more games wins the night.
- Points: every game won is 1 point. Win 4 of the 6 games and you take 4 points, the other kingdom takes 2. A 3–3 night gives 3 points each.
- Blind scores: some bowlers have a blind score. In the team total they count the blind score, or their real score when it is higher. Their own stats always show what they bowled.
- Teams change: the players on Cholan and Pandiyan can change every week.
- The season: 16 weeks. The kingdom with the most points at the end is the Champion. The bowler with the most pins is crowned Kingpin.

Before the first ball
Time rules
Starting time
- Game starts at 10:00 AM sharp.
- Lineups must be entered before practice begins.
- Once practice time ends, the game must begin immediately, without wasting playing time.
Late or not ready
- If a player hasn’t arrived, their turn can be skipped up to 2 times.
- If a player is not ready to bowl by their 3rd frame, they will:
- Sit out the entire first game
- Be awarded their average score (given at the time of team selection)
- Still be charged for the game

Strikes
- If the machine shows a strike (displayed on the screen), it counts as a strike.
Spares
- If the machine shows a spare (displayed on the screen), it counts as a spare.
- If the machine accidentally clears all pins on the second ball (even if it was a split) but doesn’t register as a spare, it’s still a spare. It’s your lucky day!
- If the machine accidentally removes a pin for the second ball, it’s also counted as a spare.

- If a pin is missing on the first ball and the player bowls (accidentally or intentionally), the outcome stands as is. No re-throw allowed.
- If a pin is in the gutter, it can be removed at any time. Players do not need to stop bowling, unless it distracts the next bowler.
- If a pin is on the lane for the second shot, the bowler decides whether to keep it or have it removed.

16 weeks of six games, from the Season 7 workbook. Every total matches the workbook's season sheet.
How the league was run
League rules
- Admins are selected for every 16-week period.
- The same admin cannot be repeated in the same year.
- Everyone has to take a turn as admin. Anyone who doesn't want to be admin in a particular period doesn't get to vote on any deciding matters in that period.
- Admins can be selected in an order or by random draw among the possible players.
- Admins have veto power in that particular period.
- Admins can decide how to organize, pick teams, pick captains and set playing rules during that period.
- Any major decision about penalizing a player, or changing the playing time, date or venue, needs a 70% vote.
All figures are copied from the 2025 league sheets and the Season 7 workbook. Names are spelled as on the sheets. A dash means the sheet shows an average of 0.00.
On the Season 7 workbook, Mona and Mayo appear as Mayu(S) and Mayoo(K), and Suresh as Niruban.

Every Saturday is a mini tournament. Seven categories, and in each one we award gold, silver and bronze. Your medals add up all season, and each one is worth cash.

Most games of 200 or more. Only players who bowl a 200+ game can place.

Clean Game
A game with no open frames, every frame a strike or a spare. Ranked by the highest clean-game score. If nobody bowls one, no medal that week.
- 7
Highest Low Game
Take each bowler's worst game of the night. Whoever's worst game is the highest takes gold: the medal for staying steady all evening.
Ties share the place. Because of ties, and weeks when nobody qualifies (for example in Clean Game), the number of medals each week can vary.
End of the season
The Season Medal Champion
Most medals after 16 weeks
The player with the most medals wins the special trophy and the $300 prize.
- The champion receives the $300 prize only, without medal cash.
- Every other player receives cash for all the medals they earned during the season.
- If two players finish level on medals, the one with more gold wins. If still level, more silver.
- There are up to 336 medal places in the season, including 112 golds. If every place is awarded, that is $196 in medal cash shared across the crew.
- No minimum games. Miss a Saturday and you simply miss that week's chance to win medals.

The MVP Award
Each week, the team captains, the admin and a couple of core members jointly choose one MVP from across both teams.

Performance and sportsmanship come first.

MVP of the Season
After 16 weeks, the player with the most weekly MVP awards is named MVP of the Season and receives a separate reward.
A tie is decided by the same group, on overall performance and sportsmanship across the season.
